I'm a BACP-accredited counsellor with a specific focus: teenagers (12-25) and men. I've worked with over 80 families navigating trauma, mental health challenges, relationship struggles, and life transitions.
I Understand What It's Like to Be a Man
I'm a male counsellor. This matters. I understand the pressures men face - the expectation to be strong, the difficulty of being vulnerable, the struggle to balance work and family, the questions about identity and self-worth.
I'm not just trained in counselling theory. I bring lived experience as a man in a female-dominated field to this work. I understand the specific challenges you're navigating because I've navigated them too.
I Specialise in Working with Teenagers
I focus on teenagers aged 12-25. This isn't a sideline - it's my core expertise. I've developed deep understanding of teenage mental health, trauma, identity struggles, anxiety, depression, and the unique challenges of growing up today.
I know how to build trust with teenagers. I know how to communicate in a way that feels real, not condescending. I know how to support healing without dismissing their experience.
I'm Trauma-Informed in Everything I Do
Trauma shapes behaviour, emotions, and relationships. Every approach I use is grounded in understanding how past experiences affect current life.
This means:
I Provide Practical, Actionable Support
We won't just process feelings. You'll leave sessions with real tools and strategies you can use in your daily life.
Whether that's communication techniques, stress management, boundary-setting, emotional regulation, or building resilience - you'll have practical strategies that work.
I've Worked with Real People Facing Real Challenges
Over 80 families have trusted me with their most difficult moments:
This isn't theoretical knowledge. It's grounded in real work with real people.

Based in Tavistock and Saltash, with online sessions available across the UK. You can work with me face-to-face or from home, whatever suits you best.
Sessions are £60 per hour, typically weekly or fortnightly. There's no fixed timeline - we work at your pace.
I'm Fully Qualified and Accredited

I complete 30 hours of CPD every year, with current focus on Interpersonal Neurobiology.
If you're ready to explore what counselling can offer you, book a free 30-minute discovery call today. No pressure, no commitment - just a chance to talk and see if we're a good fit.
Please reach me at hello@jeffdawson.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
In your initial free 30-minute discovery call, we'll have a no-obligation chat. You can ask questions about how I work, and I can understand what brings you in. This is a chance to see if we're a good fit.
If you decide to proceed, your first full session will involve establishing a contract, exploring your situation in depth, and starting to build a plan for how we'll work together.
Each session typically lasts 1 hour. This allows us to explore your thoughts and feelings in depth, while also providing time for reflection and planning for the next steps.
The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some clients find a few sessions sufficient to navigate a specific challenge. Others benefit from longer-term support for deeper healing.
We'll review regularly and adjust as needed. There's no fixed timeline - we work at your pace.
Yes, confidentiality is fundamental to my counselling practice. All information shared during sessions is kept private.
The only exceptions are if you're at serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there's abuse or safeguarding concerns. I'll always be honest with you about these boundaries.
It's important to feel safe and supported. If you ever feel uncomfortable, please let me know. We can discuss your concerns and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you have a positive experience.

I build trust first. I communicate in a way that feels real and respectful, not condescending. I'm trauma-informed, which means I understand that behaviour is communication and that healing happens in relationship.
I focus on practical strategies alongside emotional processing. Teenagers leave sessions with tools they can actually use.
Yes. I offer both in-person sessions (Tavistock and Saltash) and online sessions across the UK. Online sessions are conducted via secure video call and are just as effective as face-to-face work.
You'll have tools and strategies to use in your daily life. Between sessions, you'll be working on what we've discussed and building real change.
