You used to be close. Now they barely talk to you. You feel like you're doing everything wrong. You're working hard, trying your best, but the connection is slipping away. I'm a coach who specialises in helping dads rebuild connection with their teenagers -even when they're pulling away. I know what works.
Being a dad of a teenager is one of the hardest things you'll ever do. And nobody teaches you how to do it.
Your teenager is changing. They're pulling away. Communication is breaking down. You're trying to stay involved, but every conversation feels like a battle. You feel disconnected, frustrated, maybe even like you're failing.
Here's the truth: You're not failing. You're just missing the tools and strategies that actually work.
When you understand what's really happening with your teenager, when you know how to communicate in a way they'll actually respond to, when you have a clear plan - everything shifts. The relationship starts to heal. You feel more confident as a dad. Your teenager starts opening up again.
This is what coaching can do for you.
What Brings Dads to Coaching?
Your Teenager Has Shut You Out
You used to be close. Now they barely talk to you. They roll their eyes when you try to help. They'd rather be anywhere than with you. You feel like you've lost them, and you don't know how to get them back.
Communication Has Broken Down
Every conversation turns into an argument. You say something, they take it the wrong way. You try to give advice, they get defensive. You're not sure what to say anymore, so you say nothing. The silence is painful.
You Feel Like You're Failing as a Dad
You're working hard, providing for your family, trying to be involved - but it doesn't feel like enough. Your teenager seems angry with you. You wonder if you've messed up somewhere. You're questioning whether you're doing this right.
You're Struggling to Balance Work and Fatherhood
Work is demanding. You're tired. By the time you get home, you don't have the energy to connect properly. Your teenager needs you, but you're running on empty. You feel guilty about not being more present.
You Don't Know How to Handle the Hard Conversations
Sex, drugs, mental health, relationships - these conversations terrify you. You don't know what to say. You're worried about saying the wrong thing. So you avoid it. But avoiding it isn't working either.
You're Dealing with Separation or Custody Issues
You're co-parenting with an ex. You're worried about losing connection with your teenager. You want to be a good dad, but the situation is complicated. You need support navigating this.
You Feel Isolated and Unsupported
You don't have other dads to talk to. You can't admit to your mates that you're struggling. You feel alone in this. You need someone who gets it.
How Coaching Works
Initial discovery call (free, 30 minutes): We'll have a no-obligation chat about what's going on with your teenager and what you want to achieve. This is a chance to see if we're a good fit.
Coaching packages:
Each session is 1 hour, typically weekly or fortnightly depending on what works for you.
What happens in sessions: We'll explore what's really going on with your teenager, identify the specific communication breakdowns, and build a clear plan to rebuild connection. You'll leave each session with practical strategies you can use immediately.
Between sessions: You'll be implementing what we've discussed, tracking progress, and building real change in your relationship with your teenager.
Your pace: There's no fixed timeline. Some dads work through a specific challenge in 4 sessions. Others do longer-term coaching for deeper transformation. We review regularly and adjust as needed.
