You used to be close. Now it’s short answers, eye rolls, closed doors, or silence. You’re still doing your job as a dad - working hard, providing, trying to stay involved - but the connection feels thinner than before. I coach dads to stay steady, communicate clearly, and handle the teenage years with calm authority.
Being a dad to a teenager can be brutal. Not because you don’t care but because the rules change and nobody hands you the manual.
Your teenager is changing fast. They’re pulling away, testing limits, and reacting to things that don’t make sense to you. Conversations escalate. You either clamp down, back off, or end up saying something you regret.
Important to know is: most dads aren’t failing. They’re using the same approach they’ve always used and it stops working at this stage. When you understand what’s actually happening, when you’ve got a better way of communicating, and when you’ve got a plan you can stick to, everything shifts. You feel more confident. Home feels calmer. And your teenager is more likely to stay connected even while they’re pushing for independence.
This is what Dad Leadership Coaching is for.
What brings dads to coaching
Your teenager has shut you out
You used to talk. Now you get one-word answers. You feel like you’ve lost access to them and you don’t know how to get it back without forcing it.
Communication has broken down
Every conversation turns into an argument or a shutdown. You try to help, they get defensive. You try to set a boundary, it becomes a war. So you say less - and the distance grows.
You’re carrying pressure and it’s leaking out at home
Work is demanding. You’re tired. You’re trying to hold everything together but you’re more reactive than you want to be, and you’re not proud of how you’re showing up.
You don’t know how to handle the hard conversations
Mental health, relationships, porn, vaping, drugs, school, social media - you want to get it right, but you’re worried about saying the wrong thing, so you avoid it. And avoiding it doesn’t help.
Separation, co-parenting, or custody is complicating everything
You’re trying to stay present and consistent, but the situation is messy. You need a way to lead that’s calm, strategic, and doesn’t make things worse.
You feel isolated
You can’t talk to your mates about it. You don’t want to look weak. You’re carrying it on your own - and it’s heavy.
What we work on (in plain English)
This is practical work. You’ll leave sessions with tools you can use immediately.
How coaching works
Free 30-minute discovery call
We’ll talk through what’s happening, what you want instead, and what’s currently getting in the way. You’ll get a feel for how I work, and we’ll decide the best next step.
Sessions
Sessions are 60 minutes. Most dads choose weekly or fortnightly depending on what’s going on at home. Sessions are available in Tavistock, Saltash (limited availability), online across the UK, or outdoors on West Dartmoor.
Pricing
Sessions are £75 per hour. If you want more structure and accountability, packages are available - we’ll decide what fits on the discovery call.
Between sessions
You’ll be applying what we’ve discussed in real life. We’ll review what worked, what didn’t, and tighten your approach so you’re not guessing.
